ARMED MEN AND CANONS

We’re playing a programme based around Dutch composer Louis Andriessen’s landmark 1975 piece Workers Union, a rhythmic workout of vibrant intensity. We’ve combined it with several settings of a medieval folksong L’Homme Armé and some other pieces of folk and jazz.

Tuesday 22nd July: Prepared Pianos, Canons, and Stuff We Like
St. Peter’s Church, Notting Hill

A programme combining pieces for prepared piano by John Cage, Aphex Twin and Jason Anderson, a set of canons by J.S. Bach arranged by Hans Abrahamsen, and a mix of covers including songs by Radiohead, Architecture in Helsinki and Fatboy Slim.

With a tasty mix of new pieces, imaginative re-workings of old pieces and some sweet arrangements of electronica and jazz, seven-piece ensemble SUDDEN JUNCTION are back and performing in the beautiful St. Peter’s Church, Notting Hill.

Doors open at 7pm, concert starts at 7.30pm. Admission is FREE and you’re welcome to bring a drink or two!

Programme to include stuff by FRANCO DONATONI, SUFJAN STEVENS, PETER YARDE MARTIN, GUILLAUME DUFAY, MOCHIPET, SIGUR RÓS, GUILLAUME DE MAUCHAUT and JOHN ABERCROMBIE.
