We’ve been away for a little while, biding our time like a bulb in the ground waiting for spring, or Gandalf the Grey after he fought the Balrog in the mines or Moria. Or another analogy that works for you.
Anyhow, the important thing is that WE’RE BACK!! We’ve been rehearsing in our underground bunker, it’s sounding great and we’re looking forward to our first gig on May 4th at the beautiful St. Peter’s Church, Notting Hill – more info on our gigs page. So come along, bring your friend and let’s all have a good time. Hurray!
Jason Anderson’s ‘Piano Quintet’, written for the ensemble, grows out of the simple unison melody which opens the piece. Gradually elaborated and given extra layers, it builds slowly and inevitably towards the piano’s thundering bell-like tolls at the end.
Performed at St. Peter’s Church, Notting Hill on 25 May 2012.
Flute: Becky Chalmers Clarinet: Ben Graves Violin: Liza Barley Cello: Abby Hayward Piano: Jason Anderson
So this is one of the first arrangements we made – a beautiful song by The Cinematic Orchestra called ‘Familiar Ground’, taken here from our gig last month at St. Peter’s Church, Notting Hill as part of the Notting Hill Mayfest 2012.
Thanks for your interest in Sudden Junction – we’re going to be pretty busy filling up this site with details of upcoming gigs, a bunch of clips of pieces and performances, and links to stuff we like. For the moment why not join our Facebook event for our next gig, at Fix Coffee nr Barbican on 9th July?
